Surrey Hills Boundary Review latest

On 20 June 2025, Natural England published their second consultation report on a new extended boundary for the Surrey Hills National Landscape (formerly the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). The second consultation ran from 17th September to 10th Dec 2024.

We are very pleased to see that the new areas being proposed in Oxted and in Limpsfield, have been confirmed for inclusion in the final boundary extension proposal which will be submitted to the government for consideration.

The areas relating to Limpsfield and Oxted are listed under Limpsfield and Godstone Hills. Other areas in Tandridge District being recommended for inclusion in the new National Landscape are listed under Happy Valley, Caterham Woods and Woldingham Valleys.

This project is an opportunity to extend the Surrey Hills National Landscape boundary, which has not been reviewed since its initial designation as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1958.
