Last chance to write in to Surrey County Council about its proposed closure of the Warlingham Community Recycling Centre in Bond Road.
The County Council has earmarked the Centre for closure as part of its efforts to save money. It is holding a consultation which closes at the end of today Friday, 4 January.

A number of residents have been in touch with their concerns. They have made these main points:
* The Warlingham Recycling Centre is widely used by residents and is a vital local amenity. If it is closed, there will be a large increase in people using the Caterham Hill site which is already highly congested, often with queues of traffic waiting to go in. This will make the existing health and safety issues at Caterham a lot worse. The site is not equipped to deal with such an increase.
* Fly tipping is already a problem in Tandridge District and costs Councils a substantial amount of money to clear up. The rural nature of the area makes it an easy option as rubbish can be dumped with a low chance of the perpetrators being spotted. Closing the Warlingham facility will inevitably lead to more fly tipping and more expense for Councils.
For info: There was a consultation in 2017 on closing the Centre soon after Surrey County Council had upgraded it. After that consultation, SCC announced the Centre would be kept open with reduced opening hours - 3 days a week only - saying it 'had listened' to residents' feedback.
