Quarry Lorry Accident October 6th

You may have heard Peter Ainsworth MP, Councillor Martin Fisher and resident Amanda Griffiths being interviewed on Southern Counties Radio Thursday Morning regarding the accident in Chalkpit Lane.

Mr. Ainsworth is looking into the possibility of calling for a hold to quarry operations on safety grounds until proper solutions have been agreed. He went on to say that it is only by pure chance that no pedestrians or horse riders were injured and as such cannot allow his constituents to be put into such a vulnerable situation. "I can't really accept leaving the health and safety of my constituents to pure luck." he said.

Surrey County Council and the Highways Agency gave a very complacent statement stating they were not aware of any incident causing harm to anybody. If you feel strongly about this issue and have not already done so, please write to Mr. Ainsworth at info@peterainsworth.com

We believe it is very important and helpful for Mr.Ainsworth to know how many residents in Oxted are affected by the quarry lorries and that he has our fullest support.

The full story behind Monday is on the front page of this week's Surrey Mirror. (see below)

Can I also remind you that any incidences of unsafe driving, drivers on phones etc. should be emailed with vehicle registration numbers to smurthwaite3672@surrey.pnn.police.uk
Lorries are PROHIBITED from driving down GORDONS WAY and any lorry caught doing this, will be banned from operations for 24 hours by the quarry owner.

Kind Regards
