Chalk Pit Quarry Meeting May 7th
Extraordinary Local Committee meeting held on 7th May 2008
Whilst we are obviously disappointed that our proposal for a one way system out of the quarry in Chalkpit Lane was not approved at the meeting, we are pleased that, thanks to the efforts of our district councillors, the proposal is still on the table to be considered at the next full meeting of the committee.
We welcome Nick Skellett's support for the potential haul road planning application and, in particular, his commitment that, in the event of the haul road plans being rejected, he will give his full support to the introduction of the proposed one way system.
We would like to stress that we do not simply wish to pass this problem on to other parts of the district. However, we feel very strongly that it is manifestly unfair for the residents of Oxted, especially those in Chalkpit Lane, to bear the full brunt of this intolerable situation. We would like to work alongside everyone who is or will be affected by the problem of the lorries to find a solution that is acceptable to all.'
