BBC Surrey 28th June

The Nick Wallis Breakfast Show.

Surrey County Council have submitted the Minerals Plan just the way it was under the old government - same old sites, same old destruction of large areas of Green Belt and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

That's despite new advice from the coalition government that SCC will have the freedom to change the Plan and to revise the targets in it because those targets are being scrapped.

It's also despite SCC's leader, Dr Andrew Povey, saying on television in February that it would be a "valuable freedom" for the council to be able to make its own decisions and not have to follow the Labour government's orders.

Residents Catherine Sayer from Oxted and Angela Balfour from Bletchingley ask why, then, are SCC still determined to follow those orders.

Defending the Plan is Dr Lynne Hack, SCC Cabinet member for the environment.
